Mission Statement

My driving force? Truth. I strive to express an honest portrayal of humanity. To accept, embrace and celebrate what it is to be human, a being and a force that embodies all things – extreme light and extreme darkness. I can be crazy and rock ‘n’ roll and mad as hell. I can be deep and sensitive and broken. I strive not to follow the guidelines and confines. The extreme variety in my creations mirror the complex reality of what it is to be human.

I sing about my deepest, darkest thoughts, feelings and experiences, in a hope to accept and embrace them (and to not let them destroy me from the inside out), and to encourage others to do the same. To shine a light on these feelings that we all work so hard to repress. Shame and embarrassment have become the norm for feelings that we all experience, leaving us feeling unnecessarily alone. I sing about my mistakes and regrets, in a hope to embrace one inevitable aspect of humanity – that we are imperfect.

I sing about the wild and fun and crazy – that’s a huge part of humanity too. It seems we feel equally repressed in our wildness as we do in our sadness.

My music aims to remove shame, to inspire hope, to encourage vulnerability, openness and honesty.

I strive for these values in my daily life. And I fail, time and time again. But my mission is to take a deep and honest look at myself, my choices, my life, and to share with you, openly and truthfully, my experiences and lessons, in a hope to say, “It is OK to feel however you may feel. It is OK to make mistakes. It is OK to feel hopeless, helpless, lost, vengeful, seething, ugly, dark. And don’t forget happiness and joy! Let’s express that too!” I write these songs to remind myself that this is ok.

We hide away our feelings and mistakes, for fear of rejection, fear of failure, fear of loss. I am here to blast out every last feeling and mistake, to say that THESE ARE VALID and just part of being human!

I am constantly learning and do not claim that my journey or advice will be helpful. I sing about what I know. I am sure the things I express in 10 years will be very different. I hope to offer some inspiration with the portion of life that I have experienced. Each day I ask, “Help me to be honest. Help me to be kind. Help me to be truthful.” At the core, it is truth.

“My message is about being human. Good, bad, ugly – all of it. I have all of it, and so do you. I’m not just going to sing about light and the good stuff… I’m gonna sing about the dark, weird, sadistic fucked up stuff too…”

Biography

“EM The Master joins artists such as Lady Gaga and Tori Amos in giving a voice to those who need it most.” – Hard Rock Cafe

EM The Master is a British pianist, singer-songwriter, actress, activist, and recent New York Times Bestselling Author of CHANNEL KINDNESS, a book she and other young writers co-authored with Lady Gaga.

Her debut EP, What I Want To Say To You, produced by GRAMMY-nominated Bruce Witkin, explored EM’s experience of rape and was dedicated to sexual assault survivors. It received wide critical acclaim and EM was named “a rising music star” by Arianna Huffington’s Thrive Global.

In 2019, EM recorded UNCUT, a 7-track visual album, performed on Freddie Mercury’s Fazioli in London.

Her latest album, REBORN, was released in March 2020 and depicts EM’s journey of regaining her strength, sexuality and power, largely through the healing power of music and creativity.

Grounded in brutal honesty and an exploration of humanity, EM’s musical style is unique, due to her broad background. Trained as a classical pianist from the age of 4, EM grew up performing on large stages including The Royal Festival Hall in London, with renowned concert pianist Lang Lang, and the Fazioli Concert Hall in Italy. Venturing into other musical genres as well as acting later in life, EM’s style is now a rock-pop-classical-jazz-theatre fusion. EM, believed to be the youngest female to receive a degree in classical piano (aged 11), also graduated with an acting degree from American Academy of Dramatic Arts, NYC.

A powerhouse performer and creative – with a mission to make a difference, while having a blast in the process – EM The Master is a true force of nature, who will cause tears and laughter in one performance. Her theatricality on stage is as captivating as the technical intensity of her classical solos. Prior to the current pandemic, EM The Master held a residency at Harvelles Blues Club in LA, with her band EM & The Gems. She has also headlined legendary LA venues such as The Viper Room, The Mint and The Baked Potato.
